Hi Everybody, I'm BACK!!!!

now, you all know how much I love crafting - at home or at shows or even at a family members house (only ever did two crops - didn't work out for me, kept trying to teach instead of scrapbook), well a few of us have decided to change it up a bit and are now getting together at a friends house for Art Night. So far we are trying our hands at oil painting ala Bob Ross. Not doing so bad overall. Who knows what this might blossom into? I'll let you know as it evolves and try to post pictures as they are created. Tonight is Art Night, so there should be Something to add tomorrow. See ya then

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge #35

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge #35

This is the last of the CCC and we are sure going to miss them. I know that Linda has more fun stuff up her sleeve, but it can't be the same...or can it?

Anyhoo, this is a card I made for the CCC#35....Design Details for Studio L3, presided over by the Awesome Linda!!! These challenges have come straight from the mighty Tim Holtz new book, A Compendium of Curiosities (which you can get here) and I must say these have been fun. I never did take part in a challenge prior to these and I am SO glad I did!!!! I am also going to enter this one at All Things Tim and at Simon Says Stamp and Show (which I didn't know until just now when I went to see what their challenge was this week - metal, works for me)

So, here we have the Back of my front lol (I almost always do a 'front' that is a quarter inch smaller than the card, that way I can have items which would otherwise show on the inside of the card, like brads and stitching.) I just wanted you to see how kewl it looks, nothing like the front, but I think it's neat.

Then here is the overall finished card

And then there are a couple of the design elements....I am almost ashamed to say that pretty much, the DI in Spiced Marmalade and Peeled Paint are about all the Tim stuff I used! Oh wait!!! I used alcohol inks on the letters!!!! Whew, I feel better now! lol

Here we have a bingo piece from a very old childs game.
This is showing the details of the letters, which started out bright shiney silver and i applied various shades of alcohol inks to obtain that look.
Here you can see the stitching which is done with a holiday thread with real metal in it...
This is a piece of ribbon from my stash, started out pink, but then it got a dose of Antique Photo and a spritz of water
Here you can see one of my 'smashed' brads
a few more smashed brads

and that's it, my last CCC card. sad I think, but now I'm looking forward to what else Linda has in store for us. See you next week!!!!

Compendium of Curiosities Challenges #34

(no I do not know why it will not turn correctly, sorry)

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge #34

Dimensional Collage Fragments

Wow, again at the last minute...I'm not usually this scattered, but lately? just wow.

anyways, the challenge is from Linda at Studio L3 and she has hosted this for a very long time now, obviously, we ARE on #34! The book these techniques come from is "Compendium of Curiosities" by Tim Holtz and you can buy your very own copy here.

This is a very simple card, using a fragment, some odds and ends from my craft table and a failed attempt at an enamel techniqe from an earlier challenge. My colors are spiced marmalade and antique photo. And that's about it. hope you like it

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge #33

Altered Metal Alcohol Inks

not much time....hope it makes it! lol

Will add info after I enter it if the pics ever load! whew! made it!

Ok, now let's do this right. This is my entry into the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge #33, which the lovely Linda is hosting at Studio L3.

Altered Metal Alcohol Inks. This is on page 56 in the Tim Holtz book Compendium of Curiosities (buy here).

This was a really quick, awesome and easy technique and I loved it.

I used Stream and Stonewashed on Tims metal numerals. Placed these inside a card and cut out a window and viola! the perfect birthday card for a teenage boy!

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge #32
Inking and Stamping Masks

We are on Challenge number 31 on the blog of the Lovely Linda, Studio L3, and since today is a really rough day, this is a quick and simple card and post.

This is from Tim Holtz book "Compendium of Curiosities" page 59. (buy it here)

Stamped this car then masked then inked with pretty much all my DIs lol. Peeled paint stickles around the outside for bling and a bit of twine for dimension - and there ya have it.

Compendium of Curiosities Challenges #31

Compendium of Curiosities Challenges #31
Rusted Enamel

This technique can be found on page 41 of the Tim Holtz book "Compendium of Curiosities" (buy it here).

and away we go....we are on Challenge number 31 on the blog of the Lovely Linda, Studio L3, ...I still find that hard to believe. It's been a lot of fun and has forced me to stretch my crafting ingenuity. It's not over yet tho, so lets see what I did this time.

I made a card for a friend using this technique.

Used Milled Lavendar DI, with Antique photo, one of Tims tickets, he didn't have one that said what I wanted so I painted over the word with white paint and hand wrote it, and a piece of his paper. Then there is the rosette made with his die, but scrap paper from my stash. The silver center is actually a bead/button my hubs found one day on his walk. Made the wire holder. Yarn from my stash and there ya have it. Tada!!!!

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge #30 (plus)

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge #30

Ok, here we are again - back with another wonderful technique challenge from Studio L3. Now, open your Compendium of Curiosities to page 48 - Altered Metal with Paint. You can purchase your very own copy of this wonderous Tim Holtz book here.

Now, I have already instructed the hubby to NOT look at this blog today, or face the dire consequences - he promised. I have it in writing! lol (but to be on the safe side, I will post the picture below.)

As you can see I used Tims word sticks and philosophy tags as well as Fired Brick DI, some of his stamps and a trinket pin.

Believe it or not that glitter you see came out of a years old nail painting kit....very very fine glitter, works great!! Some papers and yarn from my stash and there you have it.

I am thinking about entering this into a few other challenges, but I have to go find them first. lol

Thank you to all the wonderful people who make this happen, it's so much fun and I am learning loads too!

Compendium of Curiosities Challenges #29

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge #29

Hello to my faithful followers....all three of you...here is my entry into the StudioL3 Compendium of Curiosities Challenge #29 "Weathered Wood Grunge". This technique can be found on page 50 of the Tim Holtz book "Compendium of Curiosities" (buy it here).

Somehow I missed last week, I do not understand...I made the piece, and it is still sitting on my crafting table, all alone, desolate to have been so thoroughly forgotten. I am ashamed. And Puzzled...

But

I did do something for this week and I will now reveal my masterpiece (ok, In reality it's just ok, but I can dream can't I?)

I started out by die cutting the puzzle pieces out of grunge board, then used 6 different Cuttlebug embossing folders.

Then I proceeded to follow Sir Tims instructions to the very best of my ability, and I'm afraid he would be a trifle disappointed, I have such a hard time with this type of thing, but it's me, not him

I used Spiced Marmelade, Fired Bricks, Peeled Paint, Faded Jeans, Vintage Photo and Concord DIs, that is indeed one of the Tim papers as a background

I made my own little holder for the ticket which was the reverse of one of Tim's that I wet, crumpled, stamped and inked with Vintage Photo.

I hope you like it, I think it turned out kinda kewl, but who am I to judge? I made it after all lol

Have a great week and Thanks again Linda for a fun project!

Compendium of Curiosities Challenges #27

Compendium of Curiosities Challenges # 27
Distress Misting Mask

here is a direct quote from Linda's blog, Studio L3...

Happy Monday, and happy 27th installment of this celebration of Tim Holtz's A Compendium of Curiosities! Holy cow, it's hard to believe there are only nine more challenges to go before we've worked our way through every technique in the book. Thank you so much for being part of this project. I hope you're having as much fun as I am!

Please open your Compendium to page 60, where you'll find Tim's instructions for Distress Misting Masks, and let's get started. If you're new to this series and don't have the book, you can get a copy from the man himself by visiting Tim's website.

this is also for Simon Says Stamp and Show as well as All Things Tim
Once again, sliding in close to the last minute. And with a pretty skimpy project. We went to a 'garage sale' today put on by a local scrapbook store, and I bought some stamps that are used to make a box and an envelope, so I had to use those for this challenge. Not too pleased with them, but gonna use them anyways.

There are two items here, one a box

the other an envelope,

I used some mists I had mixed quite some time ago so it's anybodys guess the colors I used. I know they look kewl tho. I did use Tim masks and his Umbrella man stamp tho. The 'window' of each was embossed with a Tim texture fade, altho you really can't see it. There are masks on the back of both, but these are enough pics, I think

Anyways, thanks to all the wonderful people who make these challenges possible. I have a great time learning all these techniques and seeing eveything that others are making too.

Once again it is time to post the results of my attempts in these challenges. but first.....

I WON!!! I WON!!! I WON!!! I WON!!! lol
just wanted to let everyone know that I won the prize at Studio L3 this week!!!! A gift certificate to Simon Says Stamp and am now eagerly awaiting my goodies. Thank you to Linda at Studio L3 and to the wonderful folks at Simon Says Stamp for making me so happy!!! lol
huh? what was that? oh, yeah, ok. She says to tell you what I ordered, and the answer to that is Tim stuff, of course lol..

1 *Tim Holtz Idea-ology CONFIGURATIONS 5.75" X 10.75" Shadow Box
1 *Tim Holtz DISTRESS EMBOSSING POWDER PEELED PAINT Green Ranger
1 *Tim Holtz DISTRESS EMBOSSING POWDER FIRED BRICK Red Ranger
1 *Tim Holtz DISTRESS EMBOSSING POWDER VINTAGE PHOTO Brown Ranger

since I have zero TH distressing powder until this order arrives I will have to try a different method for this weeks challenge.

This week the challenge is Rusted Grunge found on page 45 of Tim's book, Compendium of Curiosities. This challenge is taking place at Studio L3, where the wonderful Linda is helping to keep us all out of trouble lol

Anyways, here's this weeks attempt. as stated above I do not, as yet, have and distress embossing powder in my hot little hands, so I used bronze powder and 'modified' it as I went, still used the vintage photo DI and I think it came out pretty good. Pretty much everything else is just stuff from around the craft room all placed upon another one of those poor little orphaned boxes rescued by my beloved hubs.

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge #25

This is for Studio L3 The Compendium of Curiosities techniques from Tim Holtz Book, All Things Tim and Simon Says Stamp & Show.

So, please open your Compendium of Curiosities to page 34, where you'll find Mr. Holtz's Scribble Stain Distress instructions!

I'm not too sure about this technique...it looks so easy and then it isn't, lol, but I tried my best and am not really too unhappy with how it turned out. This also works with Simon Says Stamp and Show as it is most definitly remenicent of yesteryear.

I used Faded Jeans, Fired Brick, Spiced Marmalade, Peeled Paint, Antique Linen and Vintage Photo distress inks and an assortment of stamps from Tim's collection as well as one - the woman with the dogs, from Viva Las Vegasstamps. I made the little lace flower embellishment and attatched it with a Hot Off The Press brad. This is my SIL birthday card for next week, so don't tell her - OK?

Again let me thank the wonderful people who make these fun challenges available. Linda at StudioL3, Gloria at All Thngs Tim and the great folks at Simon Says Stamp & Show. And of course, the King of Grunge Himself, Tim Holts! All links are available at the bottom of this post.
